Lakewood Faces Wind Advisory, Rain As Nor’easter Nears

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood residents may want to secure outdoor objects before Friday evening, when a wind advisory takes effect ahead of a rainy weekend.

The National Weather Service advisory runs from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday. It calls for north winds of 20 to 30 mph across Ocean County, with gusts up to 50 mph.

The weather service says gusts could blow around unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs and cause a few power outages. It also warns that driving could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Rain is likely in Lakewood late Friday night. The Lakewood forecast calls for rain Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday, with gusts as high as 45 mph Saturday. It forecasts three-quarters of an inch to 1 inch of rain Saturday, followed by 1 to 2 inches Saturday night.

Strong winds could continue into Sunday, depending on the storm’s track, according to the advisory.
