Power Outage Affects 8400 People In Lakewood: JCP&L
A car-pole accident immediately caused 8400 people in Lakewood and parts of Jackson to lose power Tuesday afternoon.
LAKEWOOD, NJ β Over 8400 residents lost power in Lakewood and small pockets of Jackson on Tuesday, a Jersey Central Power & Light spokesperson confirmed to Patch.
The outage started at 2:42 p.m. right after a car hit a pole at an undisclosed location, JCP&L spokesperson Chris Hoenig told Patch. By switching the affected customers to a different circuit, JCP&L was able to restore power to all customers by 3:30 p.m., Hoenig said.
Numerous outages were reported online throughout Tuesday afternoon, but Hoenig said they were small outages as repairs were made to not overload the system. Hoenig said the outages lasted 30 minutes at most. As of 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, no outages are reported in Lakewood.
