Lakewood Students Head Back To Class Tuesday

Lakewood's public schools reopen Tuesday, with the district calendar also recognizing Yom Kippur later in September.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Summer vacation is nearly over for Lakewood students, who will return to classrooms Tuesday for the start of the 2026-27 school year.

The district welcomes students at Lakewood High School, Lakewood Middle School, Clifton Avenue Grade School, Oak Street School and Spruce Street School. Families can also find updated school hours, registration information and transportation resources on the district website.

Lakewood’s calendar reflects the community’s Jewish identity, with schools scheduled to close Monday for Yom Kippur. Classes resume Tuesday.

Before the first bell rings, parents may want to check their children’s arrival and dismissal times, complete registration requirements and review transportation arrangements. The district also encourages students to report safety concerns through its anonymous “See Something, Say Something” form.
