Lakewood Woman Cut, Stole Verizon Wires From Utility Poles, Police Say
Bobbi Joe Dunn was identified through surveillance footage and arrested weeks later during an unrelated Toms River traffic stop.
LAKEWOOD, NJ — A woman has been charged in connection with a series of incidents in which Verizon utility wiring was intentionally cut and stolen from utility poles across Lakewood Township, police said.
The investigation began April 9, when officers responded to multiple reports of Verizon wires being cut at several locations throughout the township.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the affected areas and, with assistance from Lakewood Shomrim, identified a vehicle believed to be involved.

The break in the case came May 12, when Toms River Police officers stopped the vehicle during an unrelated investigation. Lakewood detectives responded to the scene and identified one of the occupants as the suspect seen in surveillance footage, police said.
Bobbi Joe Dunn was arrested and charged with multiple counts of criminal mischief and theft. She was lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings.

Lakewood Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer credited the multi-agency effort for cracking the case.
"This case highlights the importance of teamwork and strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and community organizations," Meyer said. "The quick sharing of information and proactive police work helped bring this investigation to a successful conclusion."
