Man Stabbed Outside Lakewood PD Headquarters: Police
Lakewood police say a man was stabbed outside their headquarters Sunday night, possibly due to a drug transaction.
LAKEWOOD, NJ β Lakewood police say that a stabbing took place outside their headquarters Sunday night. No arrests have been made.
At around 10:25 p.m. Sunday, LPD Officer Joseph Mandelbaum heard a voice calling out near the departmentβs Third Street headquarters, according to a department news release. Mandelbaum located the man, identified as 54-year-old Ruben Vazquez Jr. of Lakewood, who told him that he had been stabbed by an unknown suspect.
While emergency technicians arrived on scene, Officer Mark Gibson found what he believed to be blood droplets on Third Street, and followed them to an alleyway near 245 Second Street, according to the station release.

Police say they have reason to believe that Vazquez was involved in an illegal drug transaction when the stabbing took place, though that information has not been confirmed. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Patrick Kearnes at 732-363-0200 ext. 5338.
The suspect is described as a Black male wearing all black clothing.
