Man Threatens Clerk With Pipe, Steals Cigarettes In Lakewood: Police
Shawn Frederick was charged with robbery and menacing, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ β An Ocean County man has been charged with robbery after he threatened a store clerk with a metal pipe then stole two packs of cigarettes, Lakewood police said.
Shawn Frederick, 34, walked into the 7-Eleven at 200 River Ave. on Sunday afternoon wielding a metal pipe, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
He went to the counter and threatened the clerk with the pipe, and the clerk tried to walk away, Staffordsmith said. But Frederick followed him, walking parallel along the counter and forcing the clerk to retreat to his original position, he said.

Frederick then climbed over the counter and took two packs of cigarettes, then ran out of the store, Staffordsmith said.
Police officers found Frederick a short distance away and arrested him without incident, Staffordsmith said.

He was charged with robbery and weapons-related offenses and taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.
