Pedestrian Hit, Killed In Lakewood On Christmas
The death is the 14th in Lakewood in 2017, according to New Jersey State Police records.

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- A pedestrian was hit and killed in Lakewood on Christmas evening, according to a report.
NJ.com reported the person was hit near the intersection of Cedar Bridge Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive about 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
It is the 12th pedestrian death this year in Ocean County and fifth in December. It also is the 14th traffic fatality in Lakewood in 2017, according to New Jersey State Police records.

Monday's death comes nine days after a traffic safety detail that resulted in 256 tickets issued to drivers in Lakewood in an effort to address the spike in deaths. Lakewood accounts for 20 percent of the county's 53 traffic deaths so far in 2017.
The victim in Monday's accident has not yet been identified, the report said.
