Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Lakewood Crash
Officers found the victim unconscious at the scene.
LAKEWOOD, NJ — A 20-year-old Lakewood resident remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night.
Police said officers responded around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21 to the intersection of James Street and Ridgeway Place following reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.
Officers found the victim unconscious at the scene. The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

According to the preliminary investigation, the driver was traveling westbound on James Street and had turned onto Ridgeway Place when the collision occurred. The driver remained at the scene, called emergency services, and showed no signs of impairment, police said.
"Our thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones during this difficult time," Chief Gregory Meyer said. "Our Traffic and Safety Unit is conducting a thorough investigation to determine exactly what occurred. We ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could assist investigators to contact the Lakewood Township Police Department."
