Portable Toilet Explodes At Construction Site In Ocean County

The explosion is under investigation, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — An explosion destroyed a portable toilet at a construction site in Lakewood on Saturday, police said.

The incident was reported to police about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Lakewood Capt. LeRoy Marshall said.

Police found damage consistent with a possible explosive device at the site near Clinton Avenue and Holden Square, and called in the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad along with the Lakewood Police Department's explosive detection K-9.

A thorough sweep of the surrounding area was conducted for any secondary devices but none were found, Marshall said.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lakewood Police Department.
