Fire At Camping World On Route 9 Under Investigation: Police
Lakewood police said the fire forced authorities to close Route 9 for about an hour Friday morning.

LAKEWOOD, NJ β Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged one of the buildings at Camping World on Friday morning, Lakewood police said.
The fire at Camping World, 1359 River Ave., also known as Route 9, was reported just before 6 a.m., Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
The Lakewood Fire Company responded and found heavy black smoke coming from one the buildings and immediately requested mutual aid, Staffordsmith said.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within an hour, he said.
Route 9 and adjacent roads were closed while the fire was being fought, but Route 9 reopened shortly before 8 a.m.

The road had been closed from Locust Street to Cross Street, according to an alert from the Ocean County Sheriff's Office, which was sent before 7 a.m.
