Swastikas Discovered Inside Lakewood Synagogue, Police Say

LAKEWOOD, NJ — The Lakewood Police Department is investigating a bias incident after multiple swastikas were discovered inside a synagogue on Spruce Street early Wednesday morning.

Police said officers responded to the synagogue at approximately 5:38 a.m. on July 29 after receiving a report of suspicious markings inside the building.

According to investigators, an individual arriving at the synagogue found several swastikas placed throughout the interior. Officers documented the markings, which were later removed.
