Trooper Hit On Parkway While Investigating Crash In Lakewood

New Jersey State Police said the trooper's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A New Jersey state trooper was injured Wednesday night when the trooper was hit by a vehicle while investigating a crash on the Garden State Parkway, police said Thursday.

State troopers were investigating the crash that involved multiple vehicles, at milepost 89.4 northbound in Lakewood about 6:40 p.m., when the trooper was hit, Sgt. Alejandro Goez of the New Jersey State Police said.

The trooper, who was not identified, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Goez said.

The crash remains under investigation, he said. No additional details were available as of Thursday afternoon.
