Woman Hit, Killed Walking Along New Hampshire Ave. In Lakewood: Police
The driver, a Brick Township man, stopped when he realized he had hit someone, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ β A woman was hit and killed Monday night as she walked along New Hampshire Avenue, Lakewood police said Tuesday.
Ana Gabriella Mayorga-Baires, 28, was hit about 5:30 p.m. Monday on New Hampshire Avenue near Erica Road, Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
The driver, a 67-year-old Brick Township man, told police he was driving south in his 2021 Ford Escape when he hit Mayorga-Baires, Staffordsmith said. He told police he did not see her before hit hit her, but stopped and waited for police and EMS because he realized he had hit someone.

Mayorga-Baires was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at about 6:15 p.m., Staffordsmith said.
He said no summonses or charges have been filed but the matter is still under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Mark Gibson at 732-363-0200, ext. 5415.
