1 Dead, 2 Injured In Mercer County Home Invasion: Prosecutor

Jomar Rodriguez, 29, of Trenton, was shot multiple times in the chest on Wednesday. No arrests have been made, County Prosecutor said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A Trenton resident was killed and two others injured in a shooting that occurred Wednesday night in Trenton, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Thursday.

Onofri said the incident appears to be a home invasion.

Around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Trenton police responded to the 200 block of Hewitt Street on a report of a man shot.

On arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. He was taken to Capital Health Medical Center for treatment.

While on the scene, officers learned there were two more gunshot victims who had arrived at St. Francis Medical Center, Onofri said.

Jomar Rodriguez, 29, of Trenton, was shot multiple times in the chest and pronounced dead at the hospital, Onofri said. Another man was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made.
