MERCER COUNTY, NJ —The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office collected 102 pounds of unused and expired prescription pills during Saturday's Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, officials said.
The disposed of medications ranged from daily diabetes and heart medications to addictive painkillers, Sheriff Jack Kemler said.
"Participation in Drug Take-Back Day reflects my commitment to the safety and health of county residents. I encourage the public to continue removing unneeded medications from their homes to prevent misuse and addiction," Kemler said in a media statement.

"Another Take-Back day will soon be planned for the fall season."
The drop-off event is held twice a year and sponsored by the Sheriff's Office. This year’s event was held Saturday, April 22 at the County Administration Building in Trenton. The event is considered a safe, fast, and easy way to dispose of old medications and take dangerous drugs out of circulation.
