Authorities ID Woman Shot By Ex In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Mercer

A woman and a man were pronounced dead and another man is being treated for his wounds, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Authorities on Monday identified the woman who was shot and killed in Trenton, Sunday evening.

Nyeisha Saunders, 41, of Trenton was shot by her ex-boyfriend Antione Brown, 46. Saunders’ 19-year-old son is the surviving victim who was shot in the hand, authorities said. Brown shot Saunders and her son before shooting himself, the Prosecutor's office said. Brown and Ms. Saunders had a previous dating relationship.

Around 6:35 p.m. on March 26, Trenton Police responded to a Spot Shotter activation for multiple rounds in the 100 block of Pennington Avenue.

On arrival, officers found two gunshot victims at the intersection of Monroe Street and Pennington Avenue, the Prosecutor's office said. The woman, identified as Saunders suffered from multiple gunshot wounds was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead a short time later, authorities said.

Her 19-year-old son was taken to the hospital and is being treated for a gunshot wound to the hand.

While at the scene, police learned from a concerned resident that the suspect was inside a home on Pennington Avenue. Officers entered the residence and found the suspect, Brown, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and the firearm located next to his body, authorities said.
