2 Mercer Co. Cops Charged With Assault After Scuffle At Motel

One of the officers is accused of pulling a motel clerk down by her hair and kicking her when she tried to intervene, police said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two police officers from Mercer County were charged with simple assault following a fight with a Langhorne, PA man at a motel in Bordentown Township, police said.

On Aug. 20, Tara Dzurkoc from Trenton Police Department and Mercer Sheriff’s officer Matt Sickler were checking into Best Western on Route 206, when they got into an altercation with the 60-year-old man who was also checking in, Bordentown police said.

When a hotel clerk tried to intervene, Dzurkoc pulled the woman down by her hair and kicked her, police said.

At 11:38 p.m. officers arrived at the motel where Sickler and the Langhorne man still engaged in a physical fight, according to police. Officers pulled Sickler from under the man and was able to separate them, police said.

All three parties refused medical treatment from the EMS unit.

Dzurkoc and Sickler were charged with simple assault, and the Langhorne man was charged with simple assault and harassment.

Sickler has been assigned to desk duty while the incident is being investigated, a spokesperson from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said.

Dzurkoc has been suspended without pay from the Trenton police force, according to NJ.com.
