2019 Families Fighting Flu Fest Event on November 2
St. Francis Medical Center Hosts Event with Area Health Care Partners and New Jersey Immunization Network
On Saturday, November 2, St. Francis Medical Center will host the “Families Fighting Flu Fest,” a collaborative community health fair where children and adults can receive a free flu vaccine. Last year, more than 250 people received their flu vaccine at the event.
Families Fighting Flu Fest is made possible through a joint effort by the New Jersey Department of Health, the New Jersey Immunization Network (NJIN), Henry J. Austin Health Center, Capital Health, Bellevue Pediatrics, Aetna, Horizon, Pfizer, Walgreens, Horizon NJ Health, and St. Francis Medical Center.
Each provider sponsors personnel for the event as well as influenza vaccines.

Families Fighting Flu Fest held a pilot program in 2018 at St. Francis, making it the first time the event had taken place. Michael Weinstein, Director, NJIN, called the Flu Fest a success and applauded the group’s commitment to make it an annual event.
“Our goal is to keep children and families healthy,” said Weinstein. “Unfortunately, influenza can be deadly. We want to protect as many children and families as we can. That’s why it’s such a wonderful experience to have these providers come together to keep the community healthy. We are gratified by the generosity of all our providers.”
