3 Mercer Men Charged For Burglarizing Montgomery Home With Residents Inside: Prosecutor

The resident called 911 after hearing suspicious noises and seeing broken glass from the basement window, said police.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Three Mercer County men have been charged in connection with a December burglary of an occupied home in Montgomery Township, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.

Devoris Daniels, 20, Mekai Wright, 24, and Lloyd Beard-Julius, 30, all of Trenton, face charges related to the Dec. 16, 2025, break-in on Remy Court.

Around 10:53 p.m. that day, Montgomery police responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress. The caller reported hearing suspicious noises and seeing broken glass from a basement window.

Officers arrived and found Daniels in the driveway. When ordered to stop, he ran into the backyard and re-entered the home through the broken basement window, according to police. Officers found him hiding in a closet inside the residence and took him into custody.

A Somerset County Sheriff's Office canine unit and Bernards Township Police drone unit assisted in searching for additional suspects.

On Dec. 17, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Burglary Task Force and Montgomery Township Police Department continued the investigation and found that two more suspects were involved and that a 2022 Nissan Altima was used in the burglary.

Detectives found the vehicle in Trenton and watched it until Wright got inside. When they stopped the vehicle, Wright got out and ran, but he was taken into custody after a brief chase.

Detectives later identified Beard-Julius as the third suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest and entered into a national database. Mount Laurel police in Burlington County arrested Beard-Julius on Jan. 28 on unrelated charges. He was then served with the Somerset County warrant.

Daniels was charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied structure and fourth-degree resisting arrest/eluding.

Wright was charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied structure, criminal mischief, and obstruction, both disorderly persons offenses.

Beard-Julius was charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied structure, and criminal mischief, a disorderly person’s offense.

Daniels and Wright are being held at the Somerset County Jail awaiting a detention hearing. Beard-Julius is being held at the Burlington County Jail pending court proceedings in Somerset County.
