5 Things You Need to Know About This Weekend

A way to relieve stress, a trip to the "South Pacific," a silent auction, a pruning demonstration and a history tour are among the events occurring in Lawrence Township this weekend.

Here are five local events happening this weekend that you need to know about:

 

Friday, March 18 – Meditation Circle

Reference Librarian Ann Kerr will lead a class designed to reduce stress through meditation at 2:30 p.m. on March 18 at the Lawrence Township headquarters of Mercer County Library at 2751 Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1). Light stretching at the beginning of the meditation hour will relax muscles and allow participants to be more comfortable and focused. For more details, contact Kerr at (609) 989-6920.

Friday, March 18 & Saturday, March 19 –

The theater company of Lawrence High School will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” at 7 p.m. on 18 and 19 in the school auditorium at 2525 Princeton Pike. Tickets are $6 for seniors and $8 for adults.

Saturday, March 19 – “Night on the Town”

“Night on the Town,” an art and silent auction fundraiser run by the PTO of Lawrenceville Elementary School, will be held on March 19. While the auction begins at 7 p.m., attendees are encouraged to have dinner first at one of four local restaurants that have partnered with the school’s PTO. The eateries – Chambers Walk Café, Acacia, Vidalia and  – have all agreed to donate to LES a percentage of their proceeds from guests who dine between 5 and 7 p.m. that day. The auction, to be held in Abbott Hall on the Lawrenceville School campus, is a short walk from each of the four restaurants. The $20 admission price to the silent auction includes unlimited beer, wine and appetizers.

Sunday, March 20 – Pruning Demonstration

Gary Mount, owner of Terhune Orchards, will hold a free pruning class at the farm at 330 Cold Soil Rd. at 12:30 p.m. on March 20. Mount will explain how he prunes and answer questions right out in the orchards. He will also discuss varieties of fruit trees suitable for planting by homeowners and the difference between various rootstocks. The class will be held rain or shine. Terhune Orchards' own cider and donuts will be served as refreshments.

Sunday, March 20 – Brearley House Tour

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 20, the Lawrence Historical Society will offer free tours of the , one of the oldest structures in Lawrence Township. The house is located at the end of Meadow Road, which is located off Princeton Pike near Lewisville Road.
