72-Year-Old Man Crashes Car Into Apartment Building In Lawrence: PD

The man was found unconscious and trapped inside the car. He was extricated from the vehicle by the fire department, authorities said.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 72-year-old man was injured after his car crashed into a building in the 2600 block of Lawrence Road Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Around 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Lawrence police received multiple 911 calls of a car that had crashed into a building in the 2600 block of Lawrence Road. On arrival, officers found a 2018 Mazda sedan crashed into the north side of the building, dislodging a staircase leading to second-floor apartments, Police Chief Chris Longo said.

The 72-year-old Bucks County, PA man was found unconscious and trapped inside the car. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Lawrence Township Fire Department and taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, Longo said. At this time, the extent of his injuries are still being evaluated.

Officers assisted several residents from the second-floor apartments above the crash. They were uninjured.

A portion of Lawrence Rd (Route 206) was closed in both directions during the incident. Damage to the building is being evaluated by the Lawrence Township Building Inspector.
