Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Nominated For Appointment To Full Term
A Lawrenceville man has also been appointed to a position as a Superior Court Judge, the governor announced Friday morning.

Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri has been nominated to a full term in the county’s top position. Gov. Chris Christie announced the nomination Friday morning.
In the same release, Christie announced that Lawrenceville’s Brian McLaughlin was nominated for a superior court appointment. The State Senate must confirm both appointments.
Onofri was named Acting Prosecutor in March of last year, taking over for Joseph Bocchini, who became the subject of a sexual harassment lawsuit by a former female employee of the prosecutor’s office two months later, according to the Trentonian.

Onofri has been heavily criticized by legal experts, a local religious leader who accused him of dodging the issue of police shootings and Ed “NJWeedman” Forchione, who has accused Onofri of targeting “peaceful potheads” and dodging the larger issues at hand, according to the report.
