Amalfi’s won the championship Great Lakes game on Saturday, outlasting Lawrence Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) #209 to win 8-6 in a well-played game on both sides. Amalfi hitters combined for 20 hits in six innings of a three hour game. Daniel Dryzga pitched 3 strong innings to earn the win, assisted by relievers John Thomas (had 3 hits) and Benjamin Mruczek. Matthew Weaverling (went 2-4) earned the save. Stephen Campbell & Sahir Chopra both went 3-3. Owen Bossio and Sahir Chopra both went 2-3. Thomas O’Neal and Sean Murphy also contributed hits. FOP had 14 hits. Benjamin Weeks (went 2-3) started on the mound and was assisted by Timothy Niemann (went 3-3), Michael Przelski (went 2-3), and Javier Lee (went 2-3). Noam Rios, Juan-Diego Pacheco, William Alena, Jackson Boone, Evan Carter, and Caleb Wisniewski also contributed hits. The first inning finished 3-1 with Amalfi's ahead. By the end of the fourth the score was 6-4. Amalfi's earned one run if the fifth and their final run in the sixth. FOP added two runs at the bottom of the sixth and with two runners on base Daniel Dryzga tagged second for the final out.
