HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fire broke out Monday morning at the Bank of America-owned building in Hopewell, prompting a multi-agency response from police and fire personnel.
The building was occupied at the time of the fire, but all staff were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported, authorities said.
Hopewell Township Police received a 9-1-1 call around 7:20 a.m. reporting a fire in the building's kitchen. Responding officers and fire crews found smoke billowing from the structure upon arrival.
The structure sustained extensive water and smoke damage.
Police said a preliminary investigation found nothing suspicious, though all township fires are treated as suspicious until proven otherwise as a matter of protocol.
The Mercer County Fire Marshal and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services are investigating the cause of the fire.
