LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System will host a homecoming celebration for “Jeopardy!” standout Jamie Ding on Monday, Aug. 31, from 7 to 8 p.m., with County Executive Dan Benson in attendance.
Ding, a Lawrenceville resident, wrapped up his run on the show in April with 31 consecutive wins and $882,605 in winnings, placing him fifth on the show's all-time list behind Ken Jennings, Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio and James Holzhauer. During his streak, he broke Jennings' longstanding Coryat scoring record and tied Jennings' record for correct answers in a single game.
Ding works as a Multifamily and Tax Credit Program Administrator at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency and is pursuing a law degree at Seton Hall University. He is a Princeton University graduate with a degree in molecular biology.
"We at Mercer County admire our local legends as well as their achievements, and Jamie Ding is certainly one to celebrate," Benson said. "His can-do attitude and optimism are qualities we should all try to emulate, and we are honored to commemorate this accomplishment with him."
The library described Ding as known for his love of the color orange and his sunny smile — a nod to fans who followed his run, during which he wore Princeton's orange and black on the show and co-ran an Instagram account rating General Tso's chicken with his sister.
The Aug. 31 event will include Ding sharing his favorite Jeopardy! moments and trivia tips, followed by a Q&A and bookmark signing, according to the library. Ding remains eligible to compete in the Tournament of Champions.
Registration is required and can be completed online through LibCal at mcl.org. The Lawrence Headquarters Branch is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike in Lawrenceville. For more information, call 609-883-8292 or email lawprogs@mcl.org.
