Freightliner Causes Fiery Burning Wreck On NJ Highway

State Police say the truck lost control and struck a van before hitting a guardrail.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A tractor-trailer caught fire after a crash on I-295 North in Lawrence early Monday morning, though no injuries were reported, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at 3:01 a.m. at milepost 66.8 in Lawrence Township. Based on a preliminary investigation, a Freightliner tractor-trailer and a Ford van were traveling north on I-295 when the Freightliner driver lost directional control and struck the van. Both vehicles continued forward and struck the left guardrail.

The Freightliner caught fire after the crash. The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported on scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
