In the letter, Klim referenced the Costa Rican phrase "Pura Vida," which she said she encountered while traveling in Spanish-speaking countries over the summer. She described the phrase, which translates to "pure life," as an expression used for greetings, gratitude and a positive outlook, and said she hoped to carry that spirit into the new school year.

Klim said the district's seven schools each maintain their own identity while operating as part of one LTPS community, and that staff have spent the summer preparing classrooms, refreshing buildings, and organizing technology and instructional materials ahead of the first day of school.

The superintendent also provided an update on construction at Lawrence Middle School, where renovation work on the auditorium is nearing completion. The renovated space is expected to be ready for students and staff this fall, marking the first phase of a larger renovation and expansion project at the school, according to the letter.

Klim encouraged families to stay involved in the district community this year, including attending school events, joining a school's Parent-Teacher Organization, connecting with teachers, volunteering, and following the district's communication channels.
