MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County has launched a new tourism website connecting residents and visitors with restaurants, attractions, events, parks and historic sites throughout the county, officials announced Monday.
The site, Visit Mercer, developed by the Mercer County Division of Travel & Tourism under the Office of Economic Development, replaces the former Visit Princeton tourism website following the county's new role as the region's Destination Marketing Organization.
"Mercer County has something for everyone, whether you're exploring our Revolutionary War history, enjoying one of our incredible parks, attending a concert or sporting event, or discovering one of our outstanding downtowns and local restaurants," Mercer County Executive Dan Benson said. "Visit Mercer brings all of those experiences together in one place, making it easier than ever for residents and visitors alike to discover everything our County has to offer while supporting the businesses and organizations that make Mercer County a great place to live, work and play."
The site will provide listings of restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, hotels and other destinations, along with a countywide events calendar featuring festivals, performances, sporting events and community programs. Interactive maps and search tools will let users browse by municipality, category, business or date, while digital tour guides and trip-planning tools will help visitors build personalized itineraries.
Businesses and organizations will also be able to submit their own information, attractions and upcoming events for inclusion on the platform.
"The launch of Visit Mercer represents another investment in our local economy and the businesses that help define our communities," Commissioner Board Chair Terrance Stokes said. "By making it easier for people to discover everything Mercer County has to offer, we're supporting our restaurants, shops, cultural institutions, and attractions while encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring our county."
Commissioner Vice-Chair Cathleen Lewis said launching the site was one of the best ways to support the local economy. "Whether you're looking for a new restaurant, planning a family outing or visiting one of our many historic and cultural destinations, Visit Mercer will make it easier for residents and visitors alike to discover something new right here in Mercer County," Lewis said.
Visit Mercer will work alongside a network of interactive digital tourism kiosks planned for key visitor destinations countywide, including CURE Insurance Arena and Trenton Thunder Ballpark. Future phases will add features such as digital scavenger hunts and guided experiences, and the mobile-responsive site is designed to support a future dedicated app.
The site will also complement the county's Mercer 250 initiative as the county marks America's 250th anniversary.
