MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A motorcyclist died after a crash with a pickup truck in Hamilton Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Around 2:39 p.m. on Sept. 15, Hamilton police officers responded to the area of Whitehorse-Mercerville Road and Kuser Road for a reported crash involving a motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2003 GMC pickup truck, driven by Joseph Kelemen of Hamilton Township, was exiting a shopping center parking lot near the Starbucks Coffee Company when it collided with a 1997 Yamaha motorcycle traveling northbound on Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, police said. The motorcycle was operated by Justin Morell of Allentown, New Jersey.
Morell was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, police said. Kelemen did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
The Hamilton Fire Division and Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene. Whitehorse-Mercerville Road was temporarily closed between Kuser Road and South Olden Avenue for emergency operations and the on-scene investigation, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by Officer M. Mancuso of the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact the Traffic Unit at 609-581-4000.
