Juvenile Found With 9mm Handgun During Mercer Car Stop, 3 Charged

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two men and a juvenile were arrested after police found a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and crack cocaine during a traffic stop in Trenton, authorities said.

Lucciano Jones, 18, Jarell Lundy, 20, and a juvenile whose name was not released were taken into custody after the Sept. 17 stop, Trenton Police said.

Around 4:04 p.m. that day, Officers Chaz Cason and Shane Williams were patrolling the area of Calhoun Street when they saw a Volkswagen sedan violating a state motor vehicle law, police said. The release did not say what the violation was.

The officers stopped the car as it turned onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

During the investigation, officers found that the juvenile, who was riding in the back seat, had a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine, police said. Officers also recovered crack cocaine from the car.

All three occupants were taken to Trenton Police Headquarters and charged, police said.

The charges listed in the case include unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a high-capacity magazine and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Police did not say which charges each person faces.
