LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — The first project from Lawrence Township's $98 million school referendum is complete, and the district is marking the moment with a ribbon cutting.
Lawrence Township Public Schools will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Lawrence Middle School auditorium on Monday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m., the district said Thursday.
The auditorium is the first completed project funded by the bond referendum township voters approved on March 11, 2025.
Work on the space began in December 2025. Ahead of the opening, Lawrence Middle School and district technology staff finished training on the auditorium's updated lighting and sound systems, so the space is ready for performances and events, the district said.
"This is an exciting moment for Lawrence Township Public Schools and our entire community," Superintendent Robyn Klim said. "The completion of our first referendum project is a tangible reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together to invest in our schools and our students."
"We are grateful to the Lawrence Township community for its support and look forward to seeing this space filled with student creativity, achievement, and memorable experiences for years to come," Klim added.
The ceremony also lands during Lawrence Middle School's 75th anniversary year.
More referendum work is on the way. Other planned projects include a two-story classroom addition that will bring sixth-graders to Lawrence Middle School, along with expanded instructional space, upgrades to athletic and student gathering areas, accessibility improvements and other enhancements, according to the district.
Lawrence Middle School currently serves more than 590 students in grades 7 and 8. Districtwide, about 3,900 students attend the township's seven schools.
The district said it will share updates on the remaining referendum projects as work continues. More information is available at ltps.org.
