Assembly Seat Vacated After Muoio's Appointment As Treasurer
Elizabeth Muoio resigned her seat effective Monday, the Princeton Packet reports.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Following her nomination to the position of State Treasurer in Gov. Phil Murphy’s administration, Elizabeth Muoio (D-15) has vacated her seat in the State Assembly. The vacancy appears on the state legislature's website.
Muoio submitted her resignation last week, and it became official on Monday, the Princeton Packet reports. The Democrats will now select a replacement from a large pool of candidates who hail mostly from Mercer County.
Murphy nominated the 54-year-old Muoio, of Pennington, to the position last month. She will serve as Acting Treasurer until she is confirmed by the State Senate.

Muoio has represented the 15th Legislative District as an assemblywoman since 2015, when she was appointed to the seat to replace Bonnie Watson Coleman after Coleman was elected to Congress. She was officially elected to the seat that November, and was re-elected in this year's November elections. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University.
The district covers parts of Mercer County — including Lawrence Township — and parts of Hunterdon County. Other municipalities in the district include East Amwell, Ewing, Hopewell Borough (Mercer), Hopewell Township (Mercer), Lambertville, Pennington, Trenton, West Amwell and West Windsor.
