Avoid Holiday Social Media Posts To Prevent Burglary: Mercer Sheriff
Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler has urged residents not to share travel plans on social media as it could lead to burglary.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — It's summertime, and Mercer County residents will be heading to various locations across the globe to enjoy a much-needed vacation. And many like to document their travels through social media posts for friends and family.
But that gorgeous beach photo on social media might raise the risk of a burglary. Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler has urged residents not to share travel plans on social media as it could put their homes at risk.
"Criminals are getting smarter and wiser these days, especially those who troll social media posts for opportunities to rob a home," Kemler said.

"I remind you and your family not to post your travel plans or vacation photos on social media while you are away. You could be informing the entire world that your home is unoccupied and available for robbery."
Kemler asked residents to be careful and post social media photos after they are back from vacation.
