Beekeeper Bob Hughes, of Yardville, will cap off Mercer County’s “Meet the Farmer” series with a presentation about honeybees at Howell Living History Farm on Thursday, June 20. This program is free and begins at 7 p.m.

Hughes will share stories from his 40 years in the bee business, including his work as the State's bee inspector, beekeeping instructor at Rutgers University, and as Howell Farm's volunteer beekeeper. He will also discuss what it takes to protect populations in the wild and to raise domestic bees.

The presentation will include a display of beekeeping tools and equipment, as well as an opportunity to see live bees during a short walk to the farm's bee yard. Afterward, Hughes will meet with guests for some refreshments provided by the Friends of Howell Farm.
