Cocaine, Weapons Seized During Raid In Mercer County: Prosecutor

A three-week investigation concluded last week with the arrest of Rayshawn Baines, authorities said.

A Mercer County man was arrested and two handguns, $56,000 in numerous narcotics and almost $16,000 in cash were seized following a three-week investigation, authorities announced this week.

Rayshawn Baines, a.k.a. Buzz, is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession of a handgun while committing a CDS offense, certain persons not to possess a handgun, possession of a high-capacity magazine, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of hollow-point rounds, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday.

Additionally, there was an outstanding warrant for Baines out of Trenton for possession for a firearm for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a firearm and pointing a firearm. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to have him detained.

He was arrested on Aug. 31 after the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force raided his home on Church Street in Trenton. During the raid, police said they found 400 grams of powder cocaine, 76 grams of crack cocaine, 69 Percocet pills, seven pounds of marijuana, a Ruger semi-automatic 9mm handgun with a fully loaded 30-round magazine, a Taurus semi-automatic .45 caliber handgun and $15,904 in cash.

The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $56,000, according to Sgt. Brian Kiely of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
