Combat Veteran Resources

New Jersey, at least the Western portion has always had shortages of a self contained health care system for veterans, coupled with a disinterest to infuse the Delaware Valley with the $$ necessary for beds and quality state licensed board certified psychiatrists and highly experienced psychotherapists. That's expected. Good and great mental health professionals are where the excitement is in the private sector. Of course, the military is the one exception to this as they manage to have well experienced and young doctors often over licensed. As professionals begin to take over veteran services is headed in a new exciting direction. TRICARE and HealthNet are expanding and UMDNJ is playing a role in military related mental health and disease. In times past, it was difficult for Pres. Obama & Congress to agree, but they do agree on one thing. Too much $$ will be spent rebuilding the ancient layers of government mental health and the private sector has advanced the government sector veteran illness medical care, except for the military. Not surprising, Hampton psychiatric (initially known for its former military medical director) now offers high grade TRICARE treatment for military related mental health. Many providers, including those certified in PTSD care trained after 9-11 have made it a specialty on the Psychology Today website. It is a welcomed future.
