Donald Trump Holding Invitation-Only Rally In Lawrenceville: Reports

The fundraiser is to help Gov. Chris Christie pay off his campaign debt.

Lawrenceville, NJ -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump appears ready to help one of the first members of his party to publicly endorse him.

Trump, the lone candidate left in the Republican Primary after Ted Cruz and John Kasich dropped out of the race this week, will appear at a fundraiser to help Gov. Chris Christie pay off his campaign debt in Lawrenceville on May 19, the Washington Post reports.

Although the fundraiser is for Christie and New Jersey’s state Republican Party, the national Republican Party is not involved in the fundraiser, according to the report.

According to an invitation posted on Twitter by political analyst Matt McDermott, the event at the Lawrenceville National Guard Armory costs $200 to attend. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the deadline to RSVP is May 16.

Trump’s appearance comes ahead of the June 7 primary in New Jersey. As of Friday morning, he had 1,053 of the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the party's nomination, but is likely to see opposition to his candidacy from GOP party leaders come convention time.
