EASEL Animal Rescue League featured on 6ABC News Philadelphia
EASEL wins "Shelter Me" by popular vote to be featured on their show.

This week’s “Shelter Me” winner on 6ABC Philadelphia, featuring journalist Alicia Vitarelli, brought viewers to Ewing, New Jersey where a partnership between the city and volunteer group, EASEL Animal Rescue League, are affirmed by the success of over 500 adoptions annually and continued support for Mercer County residents and their pets with the Trap-Neuter-Return, Training, Microchipping and educational programs.

Since their collaborative start in 2007, Ewing Animal Shelter has not euthanized an animal for space, thanks to the continued efforts of the shelter workers, EASEL volunteers and foster network. The partnership has improved the lives of all the animals who come through their doors. “We take very good care of the animals, but they don’t want to be in a cage. That’s just a reality. They are so much better in a home,” said Mark Phillips, Ewing Shelter Manager.

Programs such as dog training and the Low Cost Spay-Neuter Voucher Program have assisted in decreasing the number of owner surrenders and increasing the adoptions that are lifetime. “It’s a unique shared service with EASEL,” said James McManimon, Business Administrator, Ewing Township. “It has change the relationship the town has with many residents.”
