Good Friday Blues, Jazz and Storytelling

How can we sing on Sunday if we haven't wept on Friday?

On Friday, April 6 at Noon, a special community service of storytelling, music and remembrance will take place at The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. Featuring a blues ensemble, a jazz ensemble and a recounting of the New Testament story by renowned storyteller Rev. Joanne Epply-Schmidt (of the Episcopalian Diocese of New Jersey), the service will re-imagine Jesus’ final hours through various mediums of artistic expression. The service will be led by Rev. Jeff Vamos of Lawrenceville and Rev. Jan Willem van der Werff of Covenant Trenton. Lunch will follow the service. Childcare is available.

Though the story is old, our service promises to be different. We are offering an exciting blend of secular and sacred and will feature musicians that are more often heard in bars and lounges than in sanctuaries and pulpits.

Whether you believe in the Goodness of that awful Friday or are simply curious about the day, we hope you will join us.
