Exhibit of Works by Lawrence Twp. Artist Begins Friday
The works by Bill Plank, a retired high school art teacher, will be on display at the Lawrence Township branch of the Mercer County Library throughout the month of July.
Opening on Friday, July 1, and continuing throughout the month of July, the Lawrence Township headquarters branch of the Mercer County Library will exhibit acrylic paintings by artist Bill Plank of Lawrence.
A lifetime resident of Lawrence, Plank is retired from the East Windsor Regional School District, where he taught studio art and art history at Hightstown High School for 22 years.
Throughout his years of teaching, Plank continued to produce and exhibit his own artwork. His recent exhibits include shows at the Educational Testing Service and Capitol Health Systems – Mercer Campus.

A board member of the Lawrence Arts Council, Plank is currently represented by the Lawrence Art and Frame Gallery in the Lawrence Shopping Center.
Plank recently won a purchase award at Mercer County Artists 2011 Exhibit for a seascape entitled “Exiles.” In addition, he received a certificate of honor from the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders in recognition of the award. The painting has become a permanent part of the county’s Cultural and Heritage Commission art collection.

The July art show, entitled “Companions,” is a collection of paintings that are paired by a common characteristic such as theme, subject, or other factor.
The Lawrence Library is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1) in Lawrence, at the corner of Darrah Lane. Library hours are:
- Monday through Thursday – 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday – 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
