Fire Activity Continues In Mercer Warehouse, Part of Building To Be Demolished
Whitehead Road and Sweetbriar Avenues are expected to remain closed through the weekend, officials said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – As of Friday afternoon, fire activity continues in the Hamilton warehouse, with officials reporting hot spots in multiple areas of the property.

Whitehead Road and Sweetbriar Avenues are expected to remain closed through the weekend, Mayor Jeff Martin’s office said.

The Hamilton Township Construction Official has ordered a portion of the property to be demolished to ensure that Whitehead Road may be reopened to traffic.
Utility crews have set up temporary arrangements for power to the area and continue to work on a long-term solution, Martin’s office said.

Residents who had to evacuate their homes were allowed to return mid-day on Thursday.
The incident continues to be investigated by the Hamilton Township Police, Hamilton Township Fire Investigation Unit, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Thursday, the fire was operating at four alarms with 26 firefighting units from 14 municipalities on the scene. One firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton.
