Princeton Folk Music Society presents Jeff and Gerret Warner
in a historical and geographical cornucopia of traditional American songs
from The Anne and Frank Warner Collection. The two-hour concert and
multimedia presentation features Jeff singing songs collected by his parents
from 1938 to 1966 during their field visits to the lumber camps, fishing
villages and mountain tops of America in search of old songs. Interwoven are
recordings of the original singers and nearly two hundred photographs of these
tradition bearers and of the land in which they lived. Alan Lomax wrote
that " … if it hadn’t been for song-hunters like the Warners …, we
would certainly have lost the best of our past and the tales and tunes and lore
that made life worth living back yonder.”
