The Gingered Peach To Take Over Lawrenceville’s Purple Cow Ice Cream
The current owners announced their retirement on Thursday. The ice cream shop will officially close on Dec. 17.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Tom and Cindy Pearce, owners of Lawrenceville’s popular The Purple Cow Ice Cream announced Thursday they were retiring.
Named in honor of a whimsical drawing of a purple cow by their daughter Katie when she was in kindergarten, the ice cream store has been a local favorite for the past 12 years.
Joanne Canady-Brown, owner of local bake shop The Gingered Peach, will now be taking over operations at The Purple Cow.

“The business that we have built over the last decade means the world to us and we know we are leaving it in good hands with Joanne and her team,” the Pearce family said in a Facebook post.
“The Gingered Peach has always offered delicious treats with the highest quality and we are beyond thrilled that our little village of Lawrenceville will continue to have an ice cream shop…. But this time we get to be the customers.”

The family thanked the community for supporting them throughout the years and said they would cherish the friendships and memories made along the way.
“We are excited to spend more time as a family and look forward to seeing everyone around town,” the family said.
The Purple Cow under the current owners will officially close on Dec. 17.
In a Facebook post, The Gingered Peach said they gratefully accepted the Pearce family’s offer to take over The Purple Cow.
“We are proud to announce that in summer 2023, the team at The Gingered Peach will be bringing you the same ice cream you know and love from Purple Cow with a peachy twist,” the bake shop said. “We are humbled by the Pearce family's faith in us to carry on their legacy, and excited to serve our community in a new way.”
Don’t forget to stop by The Purple Cow on or before Dec. 17 to wish Tom and Cindy a happy retirement and thank them for giving us such delicious ice cream.
