Group Surrounds, Assaults 2 Police Officers In Mercer County
"Violence against our citizens or our police officers will not be tolerated," Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson said.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two Trenton police officers were injured after they were surrounded by a group and assaulted, Public Information officer Timothy J. Carroll said.
On Oct. 7, around 5:39 p.m., Trenton’s Steet Crimes Unit responded to a motor vehicle violation at Oakland Street and Hoffman Avenue.
A bystander got involved when officers attempted to take a man into custody, authorities said.

Soon, a group surrounded the officers and a scuffle broke out. The two officers were injured and taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment, Carroll said.
Two men were arrested and another is pending arrest “after they find out who threw the bottle at the officer,” Carroll said.

Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson has promised swift action.
“Violence against our citizens or our police officers will not be tolerated. Be sure, our team is tracking down all responsible parties and will be bringing them to justice,” Wilson said.
“This community is fed up with the cowardly actions of the few and is working with law enforcement to identify the perpetrators of violence.”
