Hamilton Woman Nominated To Mercer County Freeholder Board

Nina Melker is the newest member of the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders, according to reports.

A Hamilton Township woman is the newest member of the Mercer County Freeholder Board. She was nominated to the vacant seat on Sept. 5.

The Mercer County Democratic Committee appointed Nina Melker to the seat formerly held by Anthony Verelli, Planet Princeton reports. Verelli was appointed to the State Assembly after Reed Gusciora was elected Trenton Mayor. Melker is a senior vice president at Berkshire Bank in Hamilton.

Melker will have to run for the seat in the Nov. 6 elections to fill the rest of the three-year term, according to the Princeton Packet. Melker is active in Democratic politics in Hamilton and is the chairwoman of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation.
