Lawrence Board Of Education Seeks To Fill Vacancy
Board Member Kelly Edelstein has resigned for personal reasons.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Lawrence Township Board of Education is looking to fill a vacancy on its board.
Board Member Kelly Edelstein has resigned for personal reasons, the board announced. It will formally accept her letter of resignation at its Nov. 14 regular meeting. The board will interview applicants in public that night in an effort to fill the vacancy.
During her tenure, Edelstein served on the Board of Education’s Community Relations and Legislative Affairs as well as the Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development committees. She also served on the ad hoc Superintendent Search Committee.

“The BOE appreciates and thanks Edelstein for her service to the students, staff, and residents of the Lawrence community," the board said in a statement.
Edelstein served on the board since January, and the board is seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the board.

The term of the position to be filled extends until Dec. 31, 2019. The newly-appointed board member may run in the November 2019 school election for a two-year term ending in January 2021.
Qualifications for serving on the Board are:
- He/She is a citizen of the United States of America.
- He/She must be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age.
- He/She must be able to read and write.
- He/She has been a resident of the municipality from which he/she is to be elected for at least one year preceding the date of the election.
- He/She is not disqualified as a voter pursuant to R.S.19:4-1.
- He/She is a registered voter in the district.
Lawrence citizens interested in filling the BOE vacancy should submit their resume or letter of interest with background information to Board Secretary Thomas Eldridge, Lawrence Township Public Schools, 2565 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 by 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018.
Applicants must be able to attend the November 14 Board of Education meeting and prepare to be interviewed. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Lawrence High School library.
After interviewing the applicants, board members will proceed with the regular meeting agenda. After addressing the business items, the board will move into executive session for discussion and selection of a new board member. Afterwards, the board will return to public session and announce their decision.
