Lawrence Cop Saves 4-Year-Old Who Was Choking On Candy: Police
Officer Bartosz Chojnowski recently saved the life of a 4-year-old who was choking on a piece of candy while riding in a car, police said.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — The quick actions of a Lawrence Township police officer saved the life of a 4-year-old child who was choking on a piece of candy while riding in a car, police said.
Officer Bartosz Chojnowski was working a special duty road job on Carson Road in Lawrence Township just before 10 a.m. on June 14 when a car pulled over and a woman who was visibly upset jumped out, police said.
Maria Wimmers, of Hopewell Township, went on to tell Chojnowski that her 4-year-old was unresponsive and not breathing while choking on a piece of candy, police said.

Chojnowski immediately took the child from the car and began performing life-saving measures to dislodge the object, police said.
After a moment, Chojnowski successfully dislodged the object, according to Lawrence Township police. The child became responsive and began breathing again.

On June 18, Wimmers and her family visited the Lawrence Township Police Department and were reunited with Chojnowski. Wimmers and her family were given a full tour of the police station. As a sign of their gratitude, they brought lunch for all the employees who were working that day.
