Lawrence Hopewell Trail Joins REI's #OptOutside Campaign

REI is leading the charge to get people out of stores on Black Friday, and the Lawrence Hopewell Trail is getting involved.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — For the last two years, REI Co-op has skipped Black Friday. Instead, the outdoor retail co-op pays its employees to get outside as part of its Black Friday #OptOutside Campaign.
In the world of retail, it’s a risky move, to say the least, but by doing this, REI Co-op takes the time to regroup and enjoy precious time outside with friends and family.

REI says it believes this effort can play an important role in bringing people together to celebrate the outdoors to life and share time together regardless of background or belief. This year, the Lawrence Hopewell Trail is getting involved.

On Friday, Nov. 24, trail users, family, friends, new and old, will meet up and walk, run or bike together during the Lawrence Hopewell Trail’s Trail Mix event. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., consists of four recommended routes:
