Lawrence-Hopewell Trail's Trail And Treat Ride Set For Sunday

Children ages 12 and under and their families are invited to wear Halloween costumes, participate in bike rides and listen to live music.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ— What is quickly becoming a Halloween tradition returns for the third straight year, as the Lawrence Hopewell Trail hosts the Trail and Treat Ride on Sunday, Oct. 22, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Village Park in Lawrence.

Children ages 12 and under and their families are invited to wear Halloween costumes, participate in bike rides get their faces painted and enjoy live music by the School of Rock. They will also receive a pumpkin to decorate, as well as trick-or-treat goodie bags.

There will be a one-mile long ride for children six years old and older, and a quarter-mile loop for younger children. The event is free. Investor’s Bank sponsors the ride by covering the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail’s hosting costs. Other businesses supporting the event as donors include Willis Greenhouse, Starbucks and Wegmans.

Participants should gather at Village Park at the Bergen Street entrance/parking lot starting at 3 p.m. Parents with bicycle trailers are welcome, and parent supervision is required. Online pre-registration is strongly encouraged by visiting the LHT’s website, http://lhtrail.org/trailandtreat/.

“From its birth, the Lawrence Hopewell Trail has been dedicated to providing a safe and family-friendly trail for our community,” said Lawrence-Hopewell Trail Board Member Jennifer Peck-NoIte, who helped organize the event along with LHT Programming and PR Committee Co-chairs Jill Young and Lindsey Bohra. “In keeping with our commitment to safety, we remind parents that the state law requires children riding bikes to wear helmets.”
