Lawrence Man Sexually Assaulted Student While Working As Teacher's Aide: Police

Daniel Fowler engaged in sexual contact with the 17-year-old female student while at the East Mountain School, prosecutor says.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A Lawrence Township man who works as a teacher's aide in Montgomery Township was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a student while at school, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson announced.

Daniel E. Fowler, 35, was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree criminal sexual contact and third-degree witness tampering.

Fowler is accused of having sexual contact with a 17-year-old female student while at the East Mountain School in Montgomery Township, Robertson said. Fowler was working as a teacher's aide at the time of the assault.

Fowler had been talking with the student through a cell phone app before sexually assaulting her. The communications between Fowler and the student were of a sexual nature, Robertson said.

Montgomery Township police learned of the assault on Aug. 30. On Sept. 25 Fowler was arrested at his home without incident, with the assistance of the Lawrence Police Department. Fowler was lodged in the Somerset County Jail, without bail, pending a detention hearing.
